2019 Representative Coaching Applications

Applications for coaching positions of all Downs Rugby representative sides are now open. Please head to this link to complete the online application. 


More information on the coaching roles can be found below;

Senior Mens XV and Under 19 XV The 2019 Senior Men’s Representative Program will change from its usual format, with Queensland Country Rugby Union moving the season to the end of the club Rugby season. 2019 will see Darling Downs play 3 weeks of fixtures between the end of August and end of September against the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Far North Qld. Travel in 2019 will include the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Coaching staff are expected to be available to watch local club fixtures throughout the season and set a talent ID plan out which includes communication with all senior club coaches. Coaching staff are also expected to devise a training plan including any camps as well as assist in the planning of logistics for all matches to ensure costing requirements are met.

Senior Women’s 7s The Daring Downs Senior Womens Sevens program will be targeted to an end of season program, which will include the new QLD Country Womens carnival along with independent carnivals such as the Noosa International 7s.

Coaching staff are expected to be available to watch local club fixtures throughout the season and set a talent ID plan out which includes communication with all senior womens club coaches. Coaching staff are also expected to devise a training plan including any camps as well as assist in the planning of logistics for all matches to ensure costing requirements are met.

Youth Girls 7s (Under 15 and Under 17) The 2019 Youth Girls representative program will expand from the current state championships to include 4 QAS South East QLD Carnivals from the start of August to mid September, which will culminate in the Youth Girls State Championships in the September School holidays.

Coaching staff are expected to be available to run the new development programs in early 2019, as well as be available throughout the Youth Girls Sevens club season and run selection trials towards the end of Term 2. Coaching staff are also expected to devise a training plan including as well as assist in the planning of logistics for all matches to ensure costing requirements are met.

Teenage Boys XVs (Under 12, Under 13, Under 14, Under 16)

The Teenage Boys representative program will be again centred around the State Championships, which are to be held in the July school holidays. The venue for 2019 has yet to be determined by QRU.

Coaching staff are expected to be available to watch local teenage club fixtures throughout the season and set a talent ID plan out which includes communication with all teenage club coaches relevant to your age group. Selection trials for the squads are to be held at the end of term 1, with training for the squads able to commence at the beginning of term 2 with coaching staff expected to devise individual team training plans. 

Other Information

All Darling Downs Coaching Staff are expected to hold a current Smart Rugby Qualification, as well as a current Level 1 (Under Age Teams) or Level 2 (Senior Sides) coaching accreditation.

All staff for under age sides are also required to hold a valid blue card.
