New QRU Development Officer

Local Boy Appointed Queensland Reds Development Officer for Darling Downs Region

Aaron Palmer has been appointed as the QLD Rugby Development Officer for the Darling Downs region, replacing Dan Birrell after his move into Rugby Services earlier this year.

Born in Maryborough, Aaron moved to Toowoomba in 2002 where he began his love for Rugby as a junior for the Toowoomba Bears in the U7s, where he still plays A Grade today.

Before graduating in 2014 Aaron was a key member of the 2nd XV at Downland’s and his passion for sport only continued to grow. After graduating Aaron began to study a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Southern Qld in 2015.

Aaron has worked in the region as a casual development officer for the past 2 years. This experience, tied with his local roots has placed him in good stead to take over from Dan and continue the momentum that has been created in the region.

Beginning as the Development officer last week, Aaron has already begun setting up participation programs in schools across our region and you will no doubt come across him shortly. He will be based out of the Downs Rugby Office and you can contact Aaron on aaron.palmer@redsrugby.com.au
