The Darling Downs Under 15 & Under 17 Rugby 7's representative squads were announced early last month and they have been hard at work preparing for the inaugural Youth Girls 7s State Champs. The two teams will head to Logan tomorrow to compete in the two day tournament.

Similar to the Youth Boys pathway, the Darling Downs girls will compete against the best in the state with teams from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Central Queensland to create new competition and pathway opportunities.

The Downs has been able to produce huge amounts of talent over the past few years, with many girls from the region going on to make State and National Teams the Downs has become renowned for its ability to produce top line sevens players.

"Watching a number of girls within our programs over the past few years go on to represent at a higher level speaks to the raw talent we have in our region" Downs Rugby's General Manager, Mitchell Simpson commented.
