Round 18 Rugby Review

The final round of the Wagners Wellcamp Risdon Cup went off with a bang with all of the fixtures being played in Toowoomba to accommodate the Awards Night that evening. Toowoomba Rangers were host to the Condamine Cods in our Game of the Round and while the Cods fought valiantly the Rangers ran away with the lead in the end finishing 47-10. USQ Saints were up against a travelling, full-strength Goondiwindi Emus who turned up the heat for the final game of the regular season putting on 61 points to the Saints 14. The Dalby Wheatmen took down the Toowoomba Bears 32 points to 17 while the Highfields Redbacks were so close to sealing their first victory only losing by a try to the UQ Gatton Black Pigs 31-36.

The travelling Condamine Cods B Grade side secured a narrow victory against the Toowoomba Rangers 24 points to 21. USQ Saints were unable to hold of the strength of Goondiwindi Emus conceding 31 points and only scoring 2 tries worth 10 points. Dalby Wheatmen managed to keep the Toowoomba Bears scoreless and ending their season 33-0. Warwick Water Rats were host to the travelling St George Frillnecks side and secured an impressive 41-24 point victory.

C Grade minor premiers, Goondiwindi Emus put on a faultless display against the USQ Saints quickly accumulating 69 points to the Saints 17. Toowoomba Rangers managed to secure a tight victory over the Chinchilla River Rats finishing up 26 points to 22.
