Thanks Dan! - QRU Development Manager Moves On

Daniel Birrell has been the QRU Participation and Development Manager in the Darling Downs for the past 20 months, and today bids farewell to his role in the Downs as he takes on the Rugby Services Co-Ordinator QLD
position at Ballymore.

Dan had a very active time in the Downs, leading many participation figures in the state and across the country including;

  • 1600 Rookies2Reds Participants (#1 in the state)
  • 3300 Game On/Get into Rugby (#1 in the state)
  • 2500+ Deadly 7’s Participants (#1 in the country)
  • 1350 Rugby 7’s participants (#1 in the state)
Throughout his tenure in the Downs he also played a key role in setting up the South West Sevens, delivering numerous education initiatives, leading junior carnival development programs and contributing to our participation growth across Junior Rugby in 2017.

With a region that spanned from Gatton in the East, Goondiwindi in the South, Cunamulla in the West and Proston in the North, our regions development personnel have the enormous task of promoting our game across the vast reaches of the Darling Downs. The programs that they deliver are crucial to Downs Rugby's ongoing success, and Dan has certainly left his mark in our region and will be missed by our school and club networks.

We wish him all the best, and look forward to welcoming our new Development Officer in the coming months.

Dan can still be contacted for Darling Downs school participation matters in the interim. Alternatively schools and clubs can contact Downs Rugby on 07 4633 7733 for more information.
